Locality: United States, California, San Bernardino, Bighorn Mountains, west of Homestead Valley. Along New Dixie Mine Road (BLM Road RC 2330), just above narrows; west-southwest of Ruby Mountain.

Habitat: Rocky hillside, ~20 degree slope, facing N15E. Sandy soil and rocky. Quartz monzonite surrounded by hills of biotite quartz monozonite.
Associated Species: Bromus rubens, Sphaeralcea ambigua, Eriophyllum confertiflorum, Yucca schidigera, Prunus fasciculata, Eriogonum fasciculatum, Ericameria cooperi, Stipa speciosa, Phacelia cryptantha
Notes: Annual; locally abundant. About 300 plants.
