Locality: United States, California, San Bernardino, Waterman Canyon, San Bernardino National Forest, San Bernardino Mountains; vicinity of California Route 18 north of San Bernardino, east side of Old Waterman Canyon Road, west to southwest-facing slope. Vicinity of bridge over stream. Elevation about 2530 feet.
Habitat: Canyon, gneissic metamorphic rock, pockets of humus and sandy soil.; Chaparral, shrubland on dry slopes, transition to mesic canyon forest. Dominants in chaparral: Eriogonum fasciculatum, Ceanothus spp., Phacelia spp., Lupinus spp., Eriodictyum trichocalyx. Dominants in mesic areas: Acer macrophyllum, Juglans californica, Umbellularia, Alnus, Salix, Vitis.; Locally common delicate prostrate herb on moist slopes, mostly in shade at the base of rock cliffs; flowers green. Leaves ginkgo-like, flabellate.
