Associated Species: Acer, Ostrya, Aesculus glabra, Staphylea, Carex spp.
Description: Common perennial herb with compact horizontal rhizome; fruit pale green, pendulous, almost ripe; leaves dark dull0green; most stems lying on gourd, wind-red at base.
