Sonoran Desert scrub, desert flat, near man-made arroyo and homes at south edge of preserve.

Description:
Local, plant 1-1/2 m high x 2 m wide, flowers 60(l) x 23(w; not fully opened at 12:30 pm), 62x27 mm, other flowers past flowering or do not appear fully opened, inner tepal 31x20 mm, broadly oblanceolate, outer perianth dark pink-magenta with light cream-dark pink margins, filaments dark maroon, anthers yellow, style cream-white, stigma lobes light yellow-chartreuse.
