Locality: Grown in cultivation at Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix, N 33 deg 27' 33'', W 111 deg 56' 35'', 1200 ft., 366 m: accession number 2013-0102-01-1; plant found in Garden during the Inventory for the IMLS Living Collections Grant 2012, plant of unknown origin, most likely wild but no information on collection at this time.

Description: Plant 3' x 3'' stems gray-green; spines white or tan with sheaths, sheaths have golden tips; tuberculate areoles 27-31 mm; flowers collected mid- morning to late afternoon, diameter 36-52 mm, length 54-63 mm, outer perianth greenish-mauve bronze with a darker mid-stripe, inner perianth bronze-maroon (light) with a darker mid-stripe and green at center, spines on flowers; stigma lobe number 7-9, pale yellow-green or cream; style white at base then pink; filaments maroonish-pink.
