Locality: USA, Arizona, Pinal, Santa Catalina Mountains: Coronado National Forest: 6 km. south-southeast of Oracle, on jeep trail to Bonito Mine, at switchback where road reaches a ridge crest, 0.3 road mile S of the stream-crossing (Bonito Creek) and junction with Campo Bonito Road (this junction is 0.25 road miles W of collection site of AZ# 2653); total of 1.7 road miles W of the Mt Lemmon road.

Habitat: In openings in chapparal.
Description: Locally common. Collected with season's first flowers; inner tepals dark magenta. Most buds were infested with slate-colored moth larvae.
Reproductive Condition: flowering
Notes: Voucher for photograph, flower buds (but no c-count), moths reared from flower buds (adults eclosed on 15 May 1991; Yosemitia?)
