United States, California, San Diego, Extreme western edge of Otay Mesa is southern San Diego County. Collection site ca. 20m south of SR-905, about 2km west of SR-805. Site access at Otay Mesa Road, ca. 40m to the east.

Upper end of small canyon. Canyon bottom with Eucalyptus sp., but south-facing, shaded slope supporting high-quality sage scrub. Dominant species include Artemisia californica, Simmondsia chinensis, and Bahiopsis laciniatus.
Annual herb. Leaves basal and cauline, succulent and with glaucous bloom. Some plants in flower, but many only with developing inflorescences. Hundreds of individuals.
