Locality: United States, California, Riverside, Ca. 1/4 mile northwest entrance gate to Santa Magarita (SDSU) Field Station, just south of trail leading along northwesterly border of Station.

Habitat: Among crowded, abandoned grove of Eucalyptus trees with small stream to north. Gentle northernly slope. Sandy loam. Bare under trees except for Dichelostemma capitatum.
Notes: Medium tree with hard brown deeply furrowed persistant bark. Red flowers hanging down in stalked umbels of approximately 5 flowers. Twigs red. Capsules urn shaped, wrinkled, green, with fairly thick rims and valves inserted.
