Locality: United States, California, San Diego, Lusardi Creek bed in canyon just off cul de sac of Avenida de los Lobos in Rancho Bernardo, just east of reservoir. On right hand side of trail just before reaching the creek bed.

Habitat: Creek bank. Loamy clay mixed with 2-5” rocks. Slope ca. 45 degrees, southwest facing, partly shaded. Mixed inland sage scrub; open Artemisia californica - Lotus scoparius - Eriogonum fasciculatum - Baccharis spp.
Notes: Perennial tree, ca. 25-30 ft. high with multiple trunks. Inflorescence spikes with bright yellow showy stamens. Leaves vary from medium green to yellow green.
