Description:
Densely branched shrub 1.3 m tall, forming thickets several meters broad; trunks generally less than 5 cm diameter, decumbent; secondary branches variously angled; ultimate branches very easily detached; spines red-brown, paler toward tip, sheaths brown to very pale yellow-brown, brown toward tip; fruit yellow to green-yellow, generally spineless, smooth when ftill of seeds; seeds per fruit: 2, 12, 5, 3, 11, 4, 3, 11, 4, 3, 6, 5, 8, 3 ,8, 5, 1, 9, 21.
