Description:
Common shrub to 2 m tall, 4 m broad, from 1-several, generally inclined trunks to ca. 1 dm diameter; older bark dark gray with pale red-brown fissures; secondary branches are ca. 30°, spreading to ascending, occasionally declined; ultimate branches very easily detached, gray-green, glaucous; spines very pale yellow-brown, often with three acute edges, sheaths translucent-white, yellow-brown toward tip; fruit yellow-green and leathery to very pale brown and dry; plants cloning.
