The "Verbatim Coordinates: 13N 0482243E 4396248N" do not appear on the label of this voucher, and I doubt that Brunquist would have used UTM in describing his localities. In fact, Brunquist's label gives a PLSS location of Sec. 10, T4S R70W. The calculation of geographic coordinates (39.715916 -105.20717) from the UTM has georeferenced this collection about 300 m. southeast of the dig, across Lena Gulch from Apex Gulch. This conflicts with Brunquist's description of the collection being made "one mile from [the dig] a few yards from Apex Creek." Also the habitat across Lena Gulch is really not one where Corylus cornuta might be expected. A duplicate of this collection (https://swbiodiversity.org/seinet/collections/individual/index.php?occid=523197) has a slightly different label, stating the locality as "3/4 to 1 mi. W by SW of the archeological project of Peabody Museum, a few yards from Apex Creek, on S bank." There are several Corylus cornuta in the bottom of Apex Gulch at a distance of about 0.88 mi. southwest of the location of the dig. This location is consistent with Brunquist's description. The coordinates there are (39.712127,-105.217307) Coupled with a +/- 200 m., these coordinates would be a much better place to location Brunquist's PM-117.
