Habitat: Sandy flats in area of abandoned agricultural fields (formerly blow sands) with dense cover of annuals, especially Eremalche exilis and Plantago ovata, but also Abronia villosa, Chylismia claviformis, Cryptantha angustifolia, Brassica tournefortii, Erodium cicutarium, and Schismus.
Notes: Abundant annual, stems erect in smaller plants, becoming largely prostrate spreading in larger, more vigorous individuals. Fls. white, open in mornings.
