Habitat: Small, forested depressional wetland (likely residual remnant of ancient channel scar) surrounded by slightly higher but still lowland hardwood forest.
Associated Species: Growing with Carya aquatica, Quercus lyrata, Planera aquatica, Acer rubrum, Ulmus americana, Liquidambar styraciflua, Diospyros virginiana, Styrax americanus, Vitis palmata, Brunnichia ovata, Smilax rotundifolia, Campsis radicans, Saururus cernuus, etc.
Description: Stems over 2 m tall in largest clones.
Reproductive Condition: sterile
Preparations: Herbarium Sheet 1 of 1.
Notes: Perhaps at least 7 distinct clones whithin this well-defined wetland, the largest with 350+ stems, with an additional 350+ stems distributed among the others.
