Description:
Multi-branching plant; stems are gray at base and blue-gray-green on joints; spines tan with sheaths or gray at base; flowers collected late afternoon, flower diameter 40-54 mm, length 37-56 mm, outer perianth yellow-green with a wide reddish-brown midstripe, inner perianth brilliant lemon-yellow with a reddish-brown blush at tips; stimga lobe number 6-8, color yellow; filaments maroon; thigmotrophic positive; fruit collected 14 October 2008 by Rosemary Trelease and Nancy Foisy, dry fruit tan with golden spines, diameter 13-17 mm, length 17-21 mm; seeds golden tan.
