High water level of a vernally flooded canyon drainage
Initially I placed this under subsp. australis however a closer look at the base of the stems indicates they are reddish; so this may in fact be a native stand
Fruiting
Plants are growing along a natural canyon drainage which artificially backs up and floods this area earlier in the year as a result of it being blocked off by state route 32. Most of the plants are growing on the east side of the drainage, but there are also a few on the west side. Plants were only viewed from a distance so a closer inspection is needed to verify that they are the invasive subspecies; based on their growth habit and stem color, they appear to likely be the invasive strain.
