Description:
Flowers collected in the morning; diameter 35-45 mm, length 55-65 mm, outer perianth bronze-gold with green mid-stripes tinged with pink, inner perianth bronze-gold; stigma lobe number 7-8, yellow-green; anthers yellow; additional flowers collected on 7 May 1998; joints gray-green; spines gray and brownish-red; fruit collected by Rosemary Trelease and Nancy Foisy, 16 October 2001dry, beige-gray, diameter 15-20 mm, length 31-40 mm; spines on fruit 19 mm long; seeds very large and rough in texture, golden tan.
