Habitat: Shaded draw on north-facing canyon slope in mountainous pine-oak woodland.
Substrate: Stony soil.
Associated Species: Arctostaphylos pungens, Quercus emoryi, Quercus hypoleucoides, Quercus oblongifolia, Garrya wrightii
Description: 0.1 - 0.2 meter, erect annual herb.
Notes: Bractlets (calyculi) subtending the heads often divided, surpassing phyllaries, often longer than ends of achenes.
