Elevation: 304 meters (997ft)
Habitat: Mostly open prairie fen with strong prairie component. Bisected by Little Goose Creek. Some large swaths of Frangula alnus being treated by Michigan Nature Association. Weedy areas develop further downstream where fen narrows. Highly variable in regards to health of fen with some patches appearing pristine and other complet Phragmites australis stands. Private property is being heavily encroached by shrubs and turning the high quality fen into a patchwork of degraded/healthy fen. Grass and sedge dominated area with most of the cover represented by Andropogon gerardii and Dasiphora fruticosa. Some shrub encroachment from the north by Frangula alnus and Cornus sericea; evidence of Frangula management by herbicide evident by patched of dead vegetation surrounding now-dead Frangula saplings; Lythrum salicaria present but not dominant; other species include Schoenoplectus pungens, Cladium mariscoides, Parnassia glauca, Eupatorium perfoliatum, and Pediculairis lanceolata. Ground moist and hummock; quadrat on game trail.
