Habitat:
In grassland matrix on gentle slope above and just W of stock tank in shallow valley between gentle slopes underlain by Cretaceous limestone and otherwise supporting prairie vegetation. Associates include Artemisia ludoviciana, Bouteloua curtipendula, Eriogonum longifolium, Eryngium leavenworthii, Gutierrezia texana, Schizachyrium scoparium, Sporobolus compositus var. drummondii.
