Locality: United States, Texas, Presidio, Chinati Mtns. State Natural Area. Boulder Canyon, a large, steep, bowl shaped igneous area N side of Chinatis, draining off Chinati Peak. Elev. 5504 ft.

Habitat: Open Oak-Juniper woodland. Associates include Quercus grisaea, scattered Q. pungens var. vaseyana, Juniperus, Acacia neovernicosa, A. constricta, Yucca torreyi, Nolina tex., Adolphia, Opuntia lindheimeri, O. imbricata, Rhus trilobata, and Bouteloua curtipendula. Erect perennial herb to 40 cm tall, very open branching and relatively few-stemmed. Fls yellow. Fairly common along arroyo to Boulder Canyon.
Reproductive Condition: flowering=early
