Locality: United States, Texas, Grimes, W side of small pond, N side of driveway leading to Allen house, ca. 100-200 ft. E of Co. Rd. 403 from a point ca. 3.9 roadmiles N of its southern jct. with F. M. 3090, or ca. 1.8-1.9 airmiles SW of jct. F. M. 3090 and F. M. 149 at Erwin, N of Navasota. Navasota Quadrangle. Elev. 250 - 260 ft.

Habitat: Common in little bluestem-brownseed paspalum grassland on claypan savanna on level upland. Associates include Aristida oligantha, Asclepias oenotheroides, A. verticillata, Croton glandulosus, Cyperus retrorsus, Diodia teres, Eragrostis curtipedicellata, E. spectabilis, Euphorbia corollata, Hypericum drummondii, Liatris squarrosa, Palafoxia rosea, Paspalum plicatulum, P. setaceum, Schizachyrium scoparium, Sporobolus asper, Tridens strictus.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
