Habitat: Occasional in normally emersed heavy saline clay or loam, sparsely vegetated flats in salt water marsh. Associates include Atriplex arenaria, Avicennia germinans, Batis maritima, Borrichia frutescens, Distichlis spicata, Eustoma exaltatum, Fimbristylis castanea, Heliotropium curassavicum, Iva angustifolia, Limonium nashii, Lycium carolinianum, Machaeranthera phyllocephala, Monanthochloe littoralis, Prosopis reptans, Samolus ebracteatus, Scirpus robustus, Sesuvium portulacastrum, Spartina spartinae, Spartina patens, sporobolus virginicua, Suaeda linearis.
Reproductive Condition: flowering=early
