Habitat: Dioecious; occasional in pasture on loose sandy soil derived from Carrizo Sand. Associates include Helianthus debilis, Schizachyrium scoparium, Lechea tenuifolia, Gaillardia pulchella, Croton capitatum, C. glandulosus, Froelichia floridana, Mentzelia nuda. Adjacent woodland mostly Quercus stellata, Q;. marilandica, Carya texana.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruting=mid
