Habitat: Palmetto swamp. Soil characteristics: Barbary Muck (BB)- very deep, poorly drained, very slowly permeable soils formed in recent, slightly fluid clayey sediments that are deposited in water and are continuously saturated and flooded. Associated plant species: Smilax rotundifolia, Limnobium spongia, Carex hyalinolepis, Crataegus viridis. Common.
Substrate: Barbary Muck (BB)- very deep, poorly drained, very slowly permeable soil
