Habitat: Sandy soil along seasonal drainage in pinyon-oak-juniper woodland.
Associated Species: Quercus oblongifolia, Quercus emoryi, Juniperus deppeana, Pinus discolor, Nolina microcarpa, Muhlenbergia rigens, Echinocereus santaritensis, Garrya wrightii, Muhlenbergia emersleyi, Heliomeris multiflora, Brickellia californica, Hymenothrix wrightii, Yucca madrensis, Aralia humilis, Viguiera, Bouvardia ternifolia, Elionurus barbiculmis, Bouteloua curtipendula, Eragrostis intermedia, Aristida schiedeana var. orcuttiana.
Description: Annual forb, 15 cm; 0-1 white ray per head, disks yellow; scent of licorice when crushed.
