Plant height 2 m; stems, joints blue-gray-green; spines tan, gray or golden brown to reddish-brown with golden sheaths; flowers collected in the afternoon, diameter 43-59 mm, length 54-59 mm, outer perianth bronzy-yellow green with reddish-brown or green midstripe, inner perianth bronze with maroon at tips or bronzy yellow-green with reddish brown midstripe, outer tepals are shorter than inner, additional flowers collected later in May; stijgma lobe number 5-6, yellow-green; style cream with green at base; filaments maroon; one dry fruit, sterile.
