Abstract: Deem Hills Recreation Area is a City of Phoenix Desert Preserve located just north of Happy Valley Road in north central Phoenix, west of I-17 and south of the Central Arizona Project Canal. The recreation area and adjacent hills comprise over 900 acres of open space with nearly 10 miles of hiking trails. There is also a recreation complex that includes soccer fields, a dog park, playground and basketball courts at the southwest end of the Recreation Area. As such, the list includes some species that were introduced intentionally as part of landscaping around managed areas, as well as native plants of the Sonoran Desert Scrub ecosystem that comprises most of the Recreation Area.
