Plant: Shrub to 3 m; internodes glabrous or puberulent; twigs generally hairy, generally glandular Leaves: leaves alternate, deeply 3-lobed, the lobes sparingly crenate-dentate, shallowly cleft Inflorescence: raceme, axillary, generally pendent, 5-15-flowered; pedicel generally not jointed to ovary, generally hairy or glandular; bract generally green Flowers: bisexual, radial; hypanthium 6-10 mm, longer than wide, tube exceeding ovary; sepals 3-8 mm, yellow; petals 2-3 mm; stamens generally 5, alternate petals, generally inserted at level of petals (hypanthium top), anthers generally free, generally glabrous, tips generally rounded; ovary inferior, chamber 1, ovules many, styles 2, fused base to tip Fruit: a globose berry, smooth, reddish or black, 6-8 mm. Misc: < 3000 m.
