Leaves: alternate, simple, entire, 4-8 cm, lanceolate to oblong, more silvery on lower surface
Inflorescence: generally umbel-like, axillary; flowers 1-few
Flowers: bisexual, 5-10 mm, ± as wide at top, fragrant; hypanthium ± dark yellow inside, bell-shaped to salverform, lobes 4, tube ± = lobes; stamens 4, barely exserted; disk flask-shaped, enclosing base of style; stigma ± elongate, on 1 side of style
Fruit: achene enclosed in fleshy hypanthium, 10-20 mm, elliptic in outline, yellow
Misc: Disturbed, sometimes moist places; generally < 1500 m.; May-Jun
