Plant: Perennial aquatic forb 30-70 cm
Leaves: leaves alternate, linear-lanceolate to 13 cm long, minutely toothed
Flowers: flowers bright red, tubular, showy, two-lipped.
Notes: Corolla tube slit down one side nearly to the base, anther tube is bluish-grey.Anthers united into a tube; 3 long & 2 short, around the style.
