Fruit: Fruits on small peduncles in leaf whorls; with horn-like appendages on margins
Notes: Stems filiform and jointed.

Perianth cuplike. Male and female flowers enclosed by a hyaline, spathlike sheath in the bud.
Leaves 1-nerved.
