Plant: Annual; hairs sharp, bristled, spreading; stem ascending to erect, < 4 dm Leaves: simple, generally smaller upward, cauline, alternate; lower 2-10 cm INFLORESCENCE: raceme or spike, coiled in bud, generally elongate in fruit; bracted near base; pedicels generally 0-1 mm Flowers: bisexual; sepals fused below middle, 2-10 mm in fruit; calyx 4-8 mm; corolla 1-3 mm wide, all white or yellow inside tube Fruit: Fruit: nutlets 3-4, 2-3 mm, triangular-ovate, covered with cobblestone-like bulges; tubercles 0; midrib, lateral ribs weak; cross-ribs 0; scar lateral near middle, along crest of keel, long, narrow Misc: Sandy, gravelly, or rocky slopes, creosote-bush scrub to pinyon/juniper woodland; < 1800 m.; Apr-May References: J.C.
