Growing among rocks under slight overhang at base of cliff on south side of tributary. Well shaded and moderately moist. 10° slope, facing east-northeast. Mixture of Mountain Shrub and Montane Coniferous Forest elements.
Shallow soil derived by in situ, alluvial, and colluvial processes from Monte Cristo and Bird Springs Limestones plus organic detritus.
Infrequent; favors moist, shaded cracks and crevices. A living plant from this population was sent to the University of Kansas for further study by C. H. Haufler.
