Subalpine meadow/slopes on 25 deg E-facing slope.
Subalpine meadow duff; shallow soil mostly held by vegetation roots.
Scattered low willows and Ribes and Lonicera involucrata shrubs and scattered stands of spruce and aspen. Grasses and sedges, Thalictrum alpinum, Yarrow, Frageria, Dandelion, Agoseris, Potentilla argentea, Potentilla sp., yellow Castilleja, Epilobium.
All Botrychiums judged in field to be deep, bright green above and more or less glaucous below. Spores present.
Botrychiums on more moist slope below rocky bench. 90% vegetation cover with a little bare soil and scattered porphyritic andesite (igneous) and mudstone rocks/gravel. Botrychiums mostly growing in dense vegetation in solid, root-massed sod which must be cut by a knife.
