Habitat: west facing hillside of mostly basalt but with a few granite rocks and gravel, soil a dark silt
Associated Species: desert scrub with Ambrosia salsolata, Dichelostemma pulchella, Echinocactus polycephalus, Epedra navadensis, Eriogonum inflatum
Description: locally rather abundant, cespitose, to less than 4 dm tall
