Determiner: Intermediate between E. polycephalus var. polycephalus and var. xeranthemoides; see boxed specimen; seeds and hypanthium scales of other plants in the population appear intermediate between var. polycephalus and var. xeranthemoides, however this one is more like good xeranthemoides; note very short spines; head collected for chemical study; 10 heads to the clump; largest head 10 inches in diameter including spines; clump 21 inches in diameter in spines; number of ribs per head on following sides of clump: N:14, S:16, E:15, W:15, Center:13
