Habitat:
Mosaic of mesic and dry-mesic upland forest, and barrens-like communities, in the bluffs of the Kaskaskia River. Overstory included: Acer saccharum, Fraxinus americana, Quercus alba, Q. muhlenbergii, Q. rubra, and Q. velutina. Associates Amelanchier arborea, Aristolochia serpentaria, Aster patens, A. turbinellus, Carex artitecta, C. oligocarpa, C. pensylvanica, Chasmanthium latifolium, Desmodium nudiflorum, Helianthus divaricatus, Hybanthus concolor, Monarda bradburiana, Monotropa uniflora, Oxalis violacea, Panicum latifolium, Porteranthus stipulatus, Scutellaria incana, Veronicastrum virginicum, Woodsia obtusa.
