Habitat: In open areas, mosaic of loose fine sandy loam and open patches with thin topsoil. Areas of deeper topsoil with closed coastal sage scrub. Edges of scrub and open patches with open to closed cover- Helianthemum scoparium, Navaretia hamata, Dudleya edulis, Lessingia filaginifolia, and seedlings of dominant shrubs.
Notes: Annual; small erect plants, 4-10 cm in height.
