Crumbling off page. Uncommon native perennial, transition zone, rock soil, heigh t up to 14 ft., open exposure. With other junipers the Hopis use the juniper in many ways . Firewood, fences, construction, tools, torches from the bark, a decoction of the leaves is taken by a pregnant woman who wants a girl, before and after the birth of a child juniper tea and a bath in which juniper has been soaked is used. The newborn baby is rubbed with juniper ashes, and recalcitrant children are held in smoke...see file card.
