Occasional here, more on N-facing slope; habit strict, leaves yellow-green, only one in area with fruits still on inflo.
Ricardo Flores Tirado, caretaker at Rancho Las Maravillas, told us that people around there use sotol for making a wine-like drink; Ricardo hasn't, says it affects you differently from other [liquors], but positively. A lot of bighorn sheep in area; S. Viejo may become a National Park as the Leo family, who owns more than half of it, has petitioned for this designation. Area made inaccessible by locked gates and dirt piles, primarily to keep U.S. hunters out.
