Habitat: Subalpine meadow/slopes on 25º E-facing slope. Scattered low ills and shrubs and scattered strands of spruce and aspen. Grasses and sedges, Yarrow, Dandelion. Subalpine meadow duff; shallow soil mostly held by vegetation roots. Old disturbed area.
Substrate: Porphyritic andesite (igneous) and mudstone.
Associated Species: Ribes, Lonicera involucrata, Thalictrum alpinum, Fragaria, Agoseris, Potentilla argentea, Potentilla, Castilleja, Epilobium
Description: Botrychiums on more moist slope below rocky bench. Botrychiums mostly growing in dense vegetation in solid, root-massed sod which must be cut by a knife. All Botrychiums judged in field to be deep, bright green above and more-or-less glaucous below. Spores present.
Notes: 90% vegetation cover with a little bare soil and scattered porphyritic andesite (igneous) and mudstone rocks/gravel. Botrychiums found in 30m x 10m area. First Botrychiums found after 30 minute search.
