Subalpine meadow/slopes on 25º E-facing slope. Scattered low ills and shrubs and scattered strands of spruce and aspen. Grasses and sedges, Yarrow, Dandelion. Subalpine meadow duff; shallow soil mostly held by vegetation roots. Old disturbed area.
Porphyritic andesite (igneous) and mudstone.
Ribes, Lonicera involucrata, Thalictrum alpinum, Fragaria, Agoseris, Potentilla argentea, Potentilla, Castilleja, Epilobium
Botrychiums on more moist slope below rocky bench. Botrychiums mostly growing in dense vegetation in solid, root-massed sod which must be cut by a knife. All Botrychiums judged in field to be deep, bright green above and more-or-less glaucous below. Spores present.
90% vegetation cover with a little bare soil and scattered porphyritic andesite (igneous) and mudstone rocks/gravel. Botrychiums found in 30m x 10m area. First Botrychiums found after 30 minute search.
