Description: Clumped plants, with stiff, erect, somewhat glaucous leaves, much shorter than culms. Inflorescence a narrow panicle. Spikelets purple. Lemmas without cobwebby hairs at base, keels and margins pubescent. Flowers perfect. Anthers ~1.5mm.
