Perennial spring with overstory of Douglas fir and shrub layer of Rocky Mountain maple, hazelnut, and Gambel's oak; understory of various grasses and sedges. Upland slopes adjacent to spring E- and W-facing.. Parts of spring margins thinned by landowners. Landowners actively engaged in forest thinning according to Forest Service best practices.
Gravelly/pebbly soils often overlain by plant litter. Occurs within the Pike's Peak Batholith
