Slopes covered with deposits of volcanic ash from eruptionin 1600 AD.

Description:
Common suffrutescent, densely branche dshrub, flowers white, calyx with abundant salt crystals, whereas calyses on plants collected along roadway 1.5 km furter N (and away from ocean) do not.
