Habitat: Juniperus osteosperma/Pinus edulis woodland.
Associated Species: Agave utahensis, Atriplex canescens, Berberis haematocarpa, Bouteloua eriopoda, B. gracilis, Coleogyne ramosissima, Coryphantha vivipara, Cylindropuntia acanthocarpa, C. whipplei, Echinocereus fasciculatus, Ephedra viridis, Juniperus osteosperma, Krascheninnikovia lanata, Opuntia basilaris, O. phaeacantha, Purshia stansburiana, and Yucca baccata.
Description: Abundant on pale gray-brown limestone ledges; flower bud with microspore mother cells in meiosis collected 24 April 2006 from individual in cultivation at Chino Valley, Arizona; n=22 from same individual; flower collected and photogaphed 27 April 2007.
