Habitat: Larrea-Parthenium incanum gentle south-facing slope.
Substrate: Limestone over gravelly substrate.
Associated Species: Larrea tridentata, Parthenium incanum, Fouquieria splendens subsp. splendens, Opuntia phaeacantha, Opuntia macrocentra, Prosopis glandulosa, Thymophylla pentachaeta var. belenidium, Mammillaria heyderi subsp. heyderi.
Description: Occasional to uncommon, three individual plants growing together here (one with 2 stems, other with 3 stems), all with flowers, this plant single-stemmed, ribs 9-10, central spines white-tan, upcurved, flower (2 pm) 10 cm high x 11 cm wide, hypanthium dark green, 33(l)x15(w) mm, inner tepal 53 x 19 mm, oblanceolate; additional flower collected 21 April 2018: 90x75 mm , hypanthium 25x15 mm, inner tepal 49x18 mm, oblanceolate; outer tepals pink-rose to light rose-cream with brownish-magenta midstripe, inner tepals rose-pink with darker midstripe, filaments light chartreuse-light yellow to light chartreuse, incurved, anthers light yellow to yellow, style white to very light chartreuse-white, stigma lobes 11, green to dark green, tepal apices acute-apiculate-erose.
