Habitat: Low dry scrubby woodland ("Selva Baja Caducifolia") on steep slope above highway; soil a mixture of red clay and crumbly green conglomerate rock; associates include Acacia, columnar cacti, Opuntia, Beaucarnea, Bursera, Lantana velutina, Haplophyton cymicidum, Sclerocarpus uniserialis, Elvira biflora.
