Habitat: Gentle alluvial slope; sandy and rock soil with rounded cobbles; sage scrub with Rhus laurina, Sambucus mexicana, Ribes aureum, Encelia farinosa, Artemisia californica, etc.
Notes: Common 7-8 m trees -- the tallest trees here; crowns rounded, the tops trimmed under power lines; fls. cream; berries blue-glaucous.
