Agave utahensis subsp. utahensis, Nolina cf. microcarpa, Gutierrezia sarothrae, Encelia farinosa, Acacia greggii, Echinocactus xeranthemoides, Aloysia wrightii, Porophyllum gracile, Cylindropuntia whipplei var. whipplei, Euphorbia aaron-rossii.
Originally collected by Hodgson with Dawn Goldman, Roberta Motter and Daniela Roth, 29 October 2008; in cultivation at Desert Botanical Garden November 2008; stem collected by Hodgson and Joni Ward 24 January 2018, olive green, ribs 12, spines pinkish-gray with darker tips; flowers collected 23, 25 March 2010 by Joni Ward and 28 February, 1 March 2012 by R. Trelease, N. Foisy, and G. Christensen-Dean; 12:30-1:40 pm; 45(l) x 30(w) mm, 36x20 mm (partially opened at 5:30 pm), 44x27 mm, 42x27 mm, nectar chamber above ovary, nectar sweet; outer perianth reddish-orange with wide dark red or brownish-orange midstripe, inner perianth reddish-orange but pale yellow-green basally, filaments pale yellow-green with pink at tip, or cream or white, anthers white, style cream flushed with pale green, or green or white, stigma pale green or yellow green, stigma lobe number 6-8.
